Two Visiting Professors at the Faculty: Results of the 6th Edition (UG Visiting Professors Programme)

The results of the sixth call for applications to the “Visiting Professors UG” Programme have been announced. This year, thanks to funding provided under the Programme, ten faculties will host fifteen scholars from thirteen countries worldwide.

“Visiting Professors UG” is a programme established under the Excellence Initiative “Research University” at the University of Gdańsk. Its aim is to strengthen the University’s internationalisation in both research and teaching. The Programme supports short-term (two to four weeks) and medium-term (five to twelve weeks) visits by outstanding scholars from abroad, thereby enabling the initiation and development of international cooperation.

In the sixth edition of the Programme, thirty-six applications were submitted, of which fifteen received a positive evaluation (41.67%). The University of Gdańsk will host scholars from thirteen countries: Australia, Belgium, Chile, France, Spain, Indonesia, Japan, Norway, Portugal, Singapore, the United States, Sweden, and the United Kingdom. The awardees will deliver a total of 130 teaching hours and pursue research in the humanities, social sciences, and the natural and exact sciences. Plans also include joint publications in leading academic journals and collaborative work on future grant applications.

Two visiting scholars will join our Faculty:

Professor Catarina Frade (University of Coimbra, Portugal), invited by Dr hab. Joanna Kruczalak-Jankowska, Professor at the University of Gdańsk. The purpose of Professor Frade’s visit will be to develop a research project on insolvency, with a particular focus on “law in action,” and to deliver a lecture for the Faculty’s students.

Dr Indria Wahyuni (University of Airlangga, Indonesia), invited by Dr hab. Maciej Nyka, Professor at the University of Gdańsk. During her stay at the University of Gdańsk, Dr Wahyuni will teach courses in environmental law (with particular attention to the interconnections between law, energy transition, and environmental governance) and will lead a seminar for doctoral candidates. Her visit will also include research on coal phase-out programmes as a strategy for advancing justice and a sustainable energy transition, as well as work on joint publications and the preparation of new grant proposals.
